How to Tell If You Need New Brakes

There are quite a few regular maintenance steps you need to do to keep your vehicle running well for all the miles ahead. You probably have the big ones down: oil changes, tire rotations, tune-ups. But what about your brakes?

When was the last time you had them checked out or replaced by a skilled professional technician like our service staff here at Midland Buick GMC? The time might be now to pay us a visit for quality, customer-first brake maintenance.

If you’re not sure whether you need new brakes or not, here are a few things to look out for:

Pulling

Do you feel your car pull or move to one side when you hit the brakes? This is referred to as “pulling” and is a sign you may need new brakes.

Vibrating

If your steering wheel or entire car starts to pulsate or vibrate when you brake, you probably need new brakes. Vibrating can mean you are driving on over worn rotors, decreasing your vehicle’s roadworthiness and safety.

Grinding

If you hear a harsh metallic growl or squeal sound when you brake, your brakes are grinding and it is imperative to have your brakes examined and replaced as soon as possible.
