GMC took the opportunity to present the completely redesigned 2018 GMC Terrain at the 2017 North American International Auto Show. Needless to say, the new design was a big hit with the fans in attendance. Many in the automotive press also found themselves impressed.
Design
Henry Payne, of The Detroit News, made a few remarks that got to the heart of the new design’s appeal, “Shedding nearly 500 pounds, the turbo-4 powered Terrain should ride as good as it looks.”
He’s right. This is one good-looking small SUV. It features a bold and redesigned grille, C-shaped wraparound LED signature lighting and is also available with 19-inch wheels.
Power
The redesigned 2018 GMC Terrain comes available with your choice of three, count’em three, turbocharged powertrains. There’s the efficient 1.5-liter four-cylinder. The more powerful 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder pumps out 252 horsepower. There’s also a turbocharged diesel four-cylinder option.
Variety
The Traction Select will return again — naturally. Available now on the 2017 model, this system lets you pick different driving modes to match road conditions. You can choose Off-Road, Snow, Sport, or Trailer/Tow.
The redesigned 2018 GMC Terrain is competing in an awfully crowded segment, but should benefit from the early exposure it got at the 2017 NAIAS.
