General Motors has a long, distinguished history of supporting the U.S. armed forces, including both active and inactive service members. For the pasts six years, GM – partnered with Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation – has hosted an annual Honoring Our Heroes Gala, and the last one took place on April 28. The event is meant to benefit the foundation’s Smart Home Program and the Fallen and Wounded Soldiers Fund of Michigan, providing support and resources to former service members in need.
General Motors works hard to assist veterans in three major ways: with jobs, access to vehicles, and homes. Vets have a national unemployment rate of 3.7%, but in Michigan, it’s lower than 3.5%. At the moment, GM employs 5,000 vets and has plans to add another 500 this year. Along with jobs, GM is dedicated to providing affordable vehicles to veterans, and currently plans to expand its military discount program to include first responders starting June 1. The foundations supported by last month’s gala – the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation and the Fallen and Wounded Soldiers Fund of Michigan – work tirelessly to help vets. The Smart Homes Program helps catastrophically-injured service members get the home and resources they deserve to live the fullest possible life, while the Fallen and Wounded Soldiers Fund of Michigan provides financial assistance to wounded Iraq and Afghanistan veterans from the post-9/11 era. GM actively supports both of these foundations and continues day in and day out to help military service members through their various initiatives.
If you’re a first responder, in the military, or a veteran, come see the team at Midland Buick GMC to learn more about your eligibility for the GM military discount program.
We’ve all been there: we’re worried about when a package will be delivered, if we’ll be home, or if it’ll be left at our door out in the open. Starting this past April, however, over 7 million Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac vehicles will now have a new, fun, and convenient delivery option for Amazon purchases. If you are an Amazon Prime member, you eligible GM drivers can now choose an in-car delivery option.
To take advantage of this smart delivery option, simply download the Amazon Key App and link your Amazon and OnStar accounts. Once you link the accounts, a new delivery option will appear when you place an Amazon order: “In-Car” delivery. Drivers who use the app will get a notification when their package is on its way, when its delivered, and when their car is relocked. Voila! You now know your package is in a safe, secure spot. This delivery option is especially convenient for people who park their vehicles out front of their apartment buildings, or if you want to have a package delivered directly to your vehicle in your workplace’s parking lot, giving you access to it during the day.
Currently the service operates in 37 cities and requires a 2015 model vehicle or newer, with expanded coverage to come. If you want a vehicle that’s eligible for the Amazon program, come see the sales team at Midland Buick GMC to find the ride for you.
After your tires, your brakes are the most important safety feature on your car. What good is a 250-horsepower engine if you can’t bring it to a stop? To preserve the safety of your vehicle and the life of your brakes, it is important to have your brakes inspected regularly. Check your owner’s manual for a recommended service schedule.
There are a few ways to determine if your brakes need some attention. The first is if you hear any squealing sounds coming from your brakes. Most brakes have a built-in safety feature that causes the brakes to squeal when the pads are getting too low. Another reason to have your brakes checked is if you feel any pulsing or vibrations while braking. If your vehicle pulls to the left or right when coming to a stop, that is another sign.
Ignoring your brakes can lead to excessive brake pad wear. This in turn can reduce your brakes’ stopping power, damage your brake rotors, and lead to increased repair costs.
Certified technicians here at Midland Buick GMC Cadillac can quickly determine the health of your brakes using a simple brake pad wear guide that indicates the thickness of the brake pads and whether or not they need to be replaced.
When the time comes to replace your brake pads, make sure you choose genuine General Motors brake pads. These pads are designed to fit your GM vehicle and perform exactly as the original brake did. They are also made using high-quality materials that have been proven to provide superior braking performance. These pads will also help reduce overall wear on your brake rotors and are backed by a 12-month unlimited mileage warranty.
If you have any concern about how your brakes are performing, or just want to have them inspected for peace of mind, bring your car in to us here at Midland Buick GMC Cadillac and we’ll make sure your brakes are performing they way they should be.
It might not be that far into 2018, but Buick has already revealed the refreshed 2019 Envision. When tasked with updating the Envision, Buick turned to its customers and listened to what contemporary drivers are asking for, and the compact SUV that came from the conversation is sure to impress.
As the Envision’s chief engineer, Elizabeth Pilibosian, stated, “Some of the 2019 Envision’s most notable changes are the results of listening to our customers. Beneath the updated exterior are a number of changes guided by a goal of offering the most refined and pleasant driving experience possible.” With such an admirable goal at its heart, the 2019 Envision shines with its new design, powerful performance, and advanced technological features.
As a compact crossover SUV, the 2019 Envision is part of one of the fastest growing segments in America, and it’s a true luxury competitor. It comes with a standard 2.0-liter turbo engine that delivers an impressive 252 horsepower, along with a new nine-speed automatic transmission that offers improved acceleration. The engine is equipped with smart stop/start technology to boost fuel efficiency, but this feature can be deactivated by flipping a switch in the instrument panel if the driver so chooses.
The exceptional performance of the Envision is matched by its exceptional interior design. It offers a luxurious, comfortable interior, equipped with sculpted seats, QuietTuning™ technology to block exterior noise, and a standard 8-inch diagonal infotainment system with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ compatibility.
These are only a few of the many desirable features that the 2019 Envision offers, as Buick truly strove to make the redesign driver-centric and customer-driven down to every detail. To learn more about the Buick Envision as we get closer to its release date, visit us at Midland Buick GMC Cadillac.
