Each January, many of us set resolutions that we want to accomplish by the end of the year. However, even after just a few months, more than half of us have already given up. If you really want to succeed, here are a few tips on how to keep a New Year’s resolution.
- Set SMART goals. Make your resolution Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. This means, don’t set vague goals like, “I want to save money.” Instead, try something like, “I will save $100 each month.”
- Make a plan. Figure out how you are going to save that money, or lose that weight, by laying out a plan and timeline. For example, you will take $50 from each paycheck and put it into a savings account.
- Don’t give up. If you find you are missing your goals, don’t give up. Reevaluate your plan and make any needed adjustments. Aim for smaller, more manageable goals. Try saving $20 per paycheck instead of $50, for instance.
- Get support. Talk to family and friends to see what their goals are. Find ways to encourage and support each other, especially if you have similar goals.

Spring symbolizes rebirth and fresh starts, which is why this season has cleaning and organization on everyone’s mind. If you’re looking to get your surroundings in order, check out some of our favorite spring cleaning tips from Midland Buick GMC Cadillac.
Remove Out-of-Reach Dust
Thanks to all of the beautiful new blooms and pollen, spring can be a rough time of year for those with allergies. Don’t let dust add to that issue. Spend a day cleaning hard-to-reach places like the tops of door frames, ceiling fans, and book shelves.
Use Your Dishwasher
This hard-working machine doesn’t have to be just for dishes. Fill yours with things like light fixtures, vases, toys, or anything else that could benefit from a gentle rinse.
Remove Dust from Upholstery
The quickest way to get rid of dirt, fur, dust, and debris is by using rubber gloves. Run your gloved hands under water, pat them dry so that they’re damp, and then run your hands over chairs, couches and rugs to collect debris.
Clean Around Your Stove
Use special degreasing kitchen cleaner to scrub away the grease that has built up from cooking. People are more likely to cook if their kitchen is clean and welcoming. With fresh spring and summer produce lingering on the horizon, there’s no better time than now to get that stovetop ready.
