Spring symbolizes rebirth and fresh starts, which is why this season has cleaning and organization on everyone’s mind. If you’re looking to get your surroundings in order, check out some of our favorite spring cleaningtips from Midland Buick GMC Cadillac.
Remove Out-of-Reach Dust
Thanks to all of the beautiful new blooms and pollen, spring can be a rough time of year for those with allergies. Don’t let dust add to that issue. Spend a day cleaning hard-to-reach places like the tops of door frames, ceiling fans, and book shelves.
Use Your Dishwasher
This hard-working machine doesn’t have to be just for dishes. Fill yours with things like light fixtures, vases, toys, or anything else that could benefit from a gentle rinse.
Remove Dust from Upholstery
The quickest way to get rid of dirt, fur, dust, and debris is by using rubber gloves. Run your gloved hands under water, pat them dry so that they’re damp, and then run your hands over chairs, couches and rugs to collect debris.
Clean Around Your Stove
Use special degreasing kitchen cleaner to scrub away the grease that has built up from cooking. People are more likely to cook if their kitchen is clean and welcoming. With fresh spring and summer produce lingering on the horizon, there’s no better time than now to get that stovetop ready.
March is here and spring has sprung, which means for a lot of people, it’s time to check some things off your list of spring cleaning and maintenance. Here are some spring car prep tips to get you started on taking care of your vehicle.
Wash Your Car
Winter leaves all kind of dirt and grime on cars that you wouldn’t even realize – for example, salt stuck up in the undercarriage, or dirt left behind by snow. Give your car a thorough spring cleaning to make it shine again.
Don’t Overlook Your Wipers
Spring means rain, which means you should probably swap out your wiper blades and refill the wiper fluid reservoir.
Inspect Your Tires
Check tread depth on your tires and also make a point to fill them up to the recommended tire pressure; cold temperatures cause tires to deflate faster.
As with any holiday, there are lots of ideas and preconceptions surrounding St. Patrick’s Day that people don’t know about or just flat-out aren’t true. We’ve decided to bust a few St. Patrick’s Day myths to spread some little-known knowledge.
Myth: St. Patrick Was Irish
Reality: St. Patrick was from Britain, which was at the time a part of the Holy Roman Empire. He was kidnapped at 16 and taken to Ireland as a slave.
Myth: Parades Have Always Been a Part of the Festivities
Myth: St. Patrick Used the Shamrock to Explain the Trinity
Reality: It’s a popular legend that St. Patrick used the shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity to converts in Ireland, but there’s no historical documentation proving this.
Myth: Leprechauns Have Always Been Short, Green-Clad Men
Reality: While the word Leprechaun comes from “luchorpan,” which translates to “little body,” the term originally described native water spirits and eventually got crossed with multiple other legends from fairy folklore.
Myth: Corned Beef and Cabbage is An Irish Dish
Reality: Pork and potatoes is a more authentic, traditional dish. Corned beef and cabbage originated in the United States when poor Irish immigrants used Jewish corned beef to flavor their cabbage by boiling them together.

You were so excited to greet the New Year. You set all of your resolutions, and so far this month is going well. However, January is the least of your worries when keeping New Years resolutions going all throughout the year: nearly all resolutions made for a new year fail within the first three months. But this year, that won’t happen to you! Because now, you have these tips to help you keep your New Year’s resolutions until next Christmas.
Take One Step at a Time
It’s hard enough changing one habit—so, if you’re setting five immediate goals, you might be setting yourself up for failure. It’s great to set big goals for yourself, but try to see them through by also setting smaller goals to accomplish along the way. If you can celebrate meeting those smaller goals as the year goes on, you’re more likely to feel confident in your ability to carry out your resolutions.
Take It Easy
If you slip up or become frustrated with yourself, or if you’re just feeling overwhelmed in general, make the time to do something fun. Watch a funny movie, get lunch with a friend, or visit a nearby landmark. Resetting your mind will put you in a good mood and get you ready to keep trying.
Avoid All-Encompassing Resolutions
Planning on cutting out sugar altogether for the year? Get real! Be honest with yourself and set realistic resolutions. Giving yourself a little wiggle room will make you feel less like you’re messing up and more like you know yourself well whenever you sneak in that donut on the way to work.
