The Texas Road Trip of Hidden Beaches

The Texas Road Trip of Hidden Beaches

What’s more summery than a trip to the beach? How about a road trip! This Texas road trip will let you combine two summer traditions by taking you to the Lone Star State’s best hidden beaches.

Surfside Beach

If you’re starting near Midland Buick GMC Cadillac in Midland or at another inland location, give yourself a day or two to drive to the coast. Then, make Surfside Beach your first stop. This beautiful beach will let your drive your GMC truck right onto the sand, and is the perfect spot for a bonfire or even a night of camping.

Matagorda Bay

Head south along the coast to arrive at Galveston where you’ll take a ferry to Matagorda Bay. This nature preserve island is the perfect place to find some peace and quiet, or to take a kayak out for some up-close encounters with local wildlife.

San Jose Island

Further south you’ll find San Jose Island, a peaceful coastal spot with plenty of room to breathe and dip your toes in the water.

If you want more secluded Texas beaches, you can keep your road trip going all the way down to the Rio Grande Delta. You’re guaranteed to find many of your own special spots that you’ll want to return to every summer from here forward.
